A Winning Streak: Maria Rollins Named to NJBIZ Accounting Power 50
Every June, NJBIZ presents its Accounting Power 50. According to its website, the editorial staff looks for people who have gained public attention – and perhaps acclaim – for their professional accomplishments and public service. The list identifies individuals who, through their efforts, are helping to make New Jersey a better place to live, work, and do business.
According to NJBIZ, the impact that talented accountants can have is evident in the profiles of the awardees. The professionals recognized are doing the work of helping businesses meet difficult and ever-changing challenges. These challenges make keeping track of the numbers more important and more complex than in the past. That makes the accounting profession more pertinent than ever before.
For a third time in a row, KRS managing partner Maria Rollins, CPA, MST, has been named to the Accounting Power 50 list. Rollins understands the daily challenges businesses face and ensures the KRS team gets the training and resources they need to help clients succeed. This training is ongoing, with recent sessions including using AI responsibly and the filings necessary under the Corporate Transparency Act.
Further, Rollins has helped develop and implement policies that encourage more women and others to thrive as accountants. Under her guidance, KRS was an early adopter of unlimited paid time off. Rollins says this is essential to attract and retain qualified people.
She is also a proponent of remote work, which can save employees the stress of commuting, freeing them to seek a better life-work balance. “We recognize the way we work is changing and we embrace it,” says Rollins.
Recruiting talented accounting professionals
As NJBIZ aptly points out, the accounting profession is struggling to retain its most talented members and recruit its next generation of leaders. KRS, which has been named one of the NJBIZ Best Places to Work in NJ for 12 years, is actively recruiting for several accounting and back-office positions to support its growth.
“We pride ourselves on our ‘work hard, play harder’ culture,” notes Rollins. To strengthen team camaraderie, the firm holds weekly in-office events featuring different themes and activities. These events are showcased on the KRS CPAs Instagram page.
