Gerald A. Shanker, CPA/ABV/CFF, leads KRS CPAs’ business valuation and litigation support practice. He is co-chair of the firm’s tax department. With 40+ years experience guiding and advising businesses, Jerry brings a wealth of regulatory expertise, strategic insight, and practical knowledge to every engagement.
As a business valuation expert, Jerry has performed valuations for shareholder and partner disputes, estate and gift tax, purchases and sales of businesses, and matrimonial matters. He is engaged by attorneys to assist with litigation matters, and business owners to value and offer ideas and suggestions to increase the value of their businesses.
Jerry has testified and served as a Court appointed expert in New Jersey Superior Courts. He has also served as an expert and testified in the U.S. District Court and Bankruptcy Court. He frequently assists legal counsel in reviewing the reports of other experts and preparing for deposition and trial.
In estate and gift tax matters, Jerry’s reports have been subject to Internal Revenue Service review as part of estate tax examinations, and have been accepted without change.
Jerry holds the ABV (Accredited in Business Valuation) as well as the CFF (Certified in Financial Forensics) designations, each granted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Rowan University and Masters of Science in Taxation from Pace University. Jerry is a member of the AICPA and the New Jersey Societies of Certified Public Accountants. He also holds CPA licenses in New Jersey and New York.
A former adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Law, Jerry has also published online and in professional journals.
