KRS CPAs has assisted a variety of clients over the years with matters ranging from case analysis to expert testimony.
These case studies present a sample of our typical engagements.
Challenge:
KRS was hired by an international law firm to assist with the defense of a multi-million dollar trademark infringement law suit involving their client.
Solution:
We reviewed and evaluated the expert report issued by the plaintiff, and issued an independent report on actual damages in rebuttal.
Result:
Our expert report was admitted by the federal court and, as a result, a favorable settlement was attained. It was due to KRS’s preparation and research that the judge disregarded the claims set forth in the original report by the plaintiff’s expert.
Challenge:
Three physician shareholders departed from a group practice. After that, they disputed the value of the practice and the amount of damages resulting from their departure. The case was in arbitration and KRS was hired to assist the departing physicians, who were being sued for damage by the practice.
Solution:
KRS conducted an extensive analysis of the practice, its value, and the plaintiff’s damage claims, and issued a detailed report of our findings.
Result:
Our client benefited based solely on the strength of our report. The medical group dropped the lawsuit and settled the case, ultimately paying each of the departing physicians for their interest.
Challenge:
Our client, a retiring partner in two businesses, disputed the value of his interests in these two different companies. But he did not wish to go to trial.
Solution:
KRS was engaged to prepare valuations for the two companies and assist with settling the dispute.
Result:
After protracted dispute and valuation testimony by multiple experts, the American Arbitration Association panel settled the case at values substantially similar to those determined by KRS.
