You’ve built a successful business and now you’re thinking it’s time for you to move on. Where do you start? First, you need a solid transition strategy so your personal and financial future are not at risk. You’ll learn the critical factors of business transition planning by attending the December 12 KRS Insights Breakfast.
You’ve spent years building and making your business into a successful enterprise. Today, it’s probably the most important and valuable asset you own. If you’re thinking about selling it to management or an outside buyer, or perhaps transferring it to the next generation, you need a transition plan to get through what can be a complex and stressful process.
At the December 12 KRS Business Insights Breakfast, business valuation expert and KRS partner Gerald Shanker, CPA/ABV/CFF, will discuss transition planning and share insights with business owners on key transition matters, including:
- How to know what your business is worth and how you can increase its value
- What factors valuation experts will consider when valuing your business
- Which transition option – selling the business or transitioning to family – is right for you and your company
- How to minimize taxes on the sale
- Why you need shareholder/partner agreements and how to structure them
Shanker leads KRS’s business valuation and litigation support practice and is co-chair of the firm’s tax department. He has a deep understanding of what creates and monetizes value within a company, and is expert at structuring transactions and organizations for growth, profit, and value. With a Certification in Financial Forensics (CFF) and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) credentials from the AICPA, he is frequently appointed by judges to serve as an expert witness in state and federal courts. Shanker is a lecturer at Rutgers University School of Law and has published online and in trade journals.
