The future of food was what the Summer Fancy Food Show was all about and KRS partners Maria Rollins and Jerry Shanker were on the scene to learn firsthand about the latest food industry trends as well as meet food purveyors and distributors.
Held at the Javits Center, New York, on June 25-27, this show is the largest specialty food industry trade event in North America, and the premier showcase for industry innovation. This show is often considered the farm system for new food businesses, so it was no surprise that there was a strong presence of startup food companies. One noticeable trend was the increase in products that were solution-based, such as allergen-free products.
During the show, Rollins and Shanker had the opportunity to walk Incubator Alley, where they could meet with startup food companies such as Crown Jewel Beverages, Sam’s Granola, and Commonwealth Coffee.
The show also featured a New Item Pavilion, where purveyors including Sweet Whispers, a manufacturer of fruit-filled meringues, and Little Red Kitchen Bakeshop, a small batch bakery located in Harlem and New York City, showcased their offerings.
